On the 8th and 9th of September, Harimau Sensouth Racing Team organised a drink sale in Marlborough College Malaysia in order to raise awareness for the Malayan Tiger. This is one out of two of our approaches to raise more awareness for animal conservation.
The idea came from our Team Manager, Ethan Schaap, who reached out to WSC (Wildlife Conservation Society) in order to partner up and work together. Everyone in our team worked together, playing to our strengths and contacting the necessary people to organise the drink sale. The drink sale goal also aligned with our school’s goals. Because of this, they gave us all the support we needed.
Thanks to our hard work, the drink sale drew a lot of attention from everyone in our school due to the many posters that we put up. Among the drinks that we sold were: 100 Plus, Coke, Sprite, Milo, Diet Pepsi, and 7Up.
In total, we raised RM1140, all of which has been donated to WCS. Beyond the funds, WCS has come to our school in order to give a speech raising more awareness for the tigers and the importance of wildlife conservation in general.
For the team, the drink sale helped teach all of our team members valuable experience such as organising, communicating effectively, and teamwork. It showed that anyone can show a little effort in order to contribute to a meaningful cause. Harimau Racing hopes to continue supporting WCS through further events and initiatives, ensuring that our efforts for tiger conservation grow even stronger.
